6" barrel in 9mm caliber. The Astra Model 400 is usually referred to as the Model 1921. It is a semi-automatic, magazine fed, with black composite logo grips, and blue finish. This pistol was designed by Pedro Careaga in 1919, was modified in 1921 and submitted for government trials to replace the Campo-Giro. It is chambered for the 9mm Largo cartridge but was interchangeable with the 9mm Parabellum and .38 ACP. In 1921 it was adopted by the Army, Navy, and Air Force. On page 243, sales of Astra by serial number listed in the book by Leonardo Antaris, this block of serial numbers were ordered by the Comandancia de Carabineros, which have been a part of the Army since 1878. The pistols date from 1924 to 1926. This pistol has the Carabineros royal crown on top of the slide, as well as the Astra stamp. This royal crown stamp can be seen on page 253. This pistol remains in excellent all original condition with matching numbers on slide, barrel, and frame. Pistol retains approximately 75% original blue, with balance smooth patina. Near mint bore and perfect action. Housed in a period military style holster that is stamped on back but not readable.
