5" barrel in .45 ACP caliber. This pistol was shipped to Springfield Armory commanding officer February 19th, 1918. This pistol is all original as shipped and does not appear to have seen any real use. Slide has pony at rear with patent dates on left side. Left side of frame is stamped "United States Property" and has the "J.M.G." inspector mark (John Gilbert 1917-1918) in circle. Right side of slide is stamped "Model of 1911 U.S. Army". Has all of the proper correct parts for a 1918 Army. The blued original barrel has the "HP" stamp in line with bore. Features long smooth trigger, short checkered spur hammer, checkered slide stop and safety, flat mainspring housing with lanyard ring, proper two-tone lanyard loop magazine. Diamond checkered wood grips are near mint. Slide has some minor high edge wear at flats with a couple of minor storage spots. There is virtually no wear at lower forend of slide from use. The sides and bottom of frame have virtually all of the original military blue finish with a hint of high edge wear. The front grip strap is a typical combination of blue and gun metal grey. Flat mainspring housing is a blue-grey. Grip safety retains virtually all of the military blue. Has a near mint bore and perfect action. As these guns are used, the lower forward portion of the slide always has drag lines on both sides, this pistol shows none and looks as though it sat in the reserves with the exception of the front grip strap which was never finely finish to begin with. Pistol comes with an original lanyard, Hoyt 1918 holster, tan Mills belt, 1918 dated magazine pouch, and three sealed boxes of original .45 ammunition loaded May 3rd, 1919. It would be hard to improve on the condition of this late World War I Colt.
