5-1/2" barrel in .45 LC caliber. Manufactured 1911. Features Colt high polish blue finish; with Nitre blue screws, trigger, and hammer; six shot; double action; two piece walnut grips; and a lanyard ring. These large U.S. Service revolvers were built on and numbered within the New Service category. Most of these saw very hard use in the Philippines, Mexico, and World War I. They were one of the last commercial finish U.S. revolvers and features the deep, rich high polish blue featured on commercial guns of the era. The butt of this revolver is stamped "U.S. Army Model 1909". Has the "F.B." inspector mark on right top of frame, the stamp "R.A.C." for Renaldo Carr can be found stamped on the lower right side of frame, as well as the base of both grip panels. Bottom of barrel is stamped "United States Property" and also has the "R.A.C." inspector stamp. Back of the cylinder is stamped "R.A.C.". Left side of the frame has the stylized "C" with pony and arrows. This revolver has seen almost no use. There is some holster wear at the muzzle of the barrel extending down the sides a couple of inches. Cylinder shows high edge wear with light drag line. High edge wear on trigger guard. Backstrap has thinned to 40% blue. Overall, revolver retains approximately 90% of the high polish original factory finish. Perfect action. Bore is like new. Grips are excellent with minor storage mark on left side. This is about as a fine a condition as you could expect to find on one of these early U.S. Model revolvers. Comes with an original holster stamped "G&K 1918" and three boxes of sealed original ammunition for the Model 1909. They are dated December 1913. All three boxes are sealed and in near mint condition.
