5" barrel in .45 ACP caliber. Manufactured 1943. Offered is a fine example of a standard mid-war U.S. Colt Model 1911 A1 service pistol. Left side of frame has the "G.H.D." inspector mark of Guy Dewey with proof "P". Right side of frame is stamped "United States Property" and "M1911A1 U.S. Army" on left side. Right side of frame has the Ordnance wheel that still shows raw metal. Slide has matching serial number with the tone line at 2-1/4". Has all proper early parts to include short checkered wide spur hammer, arched checkered mainspring housing with loop, checkered slide stop and safety. Blued barrel is stamped :Colt .45 Auto" on left side and has a near mint bore. Blued pin base magazine. Features brown plastic Keyes style grips with no circle "K", No. 4 and No. 12. There is a light takedown line. Otherwise pistol retains 97-98% of the matte military finish. All legends and edges are sharp. Slide shows minimal high edge wear, even has virtually all the original finish on the frame including grip strap. Pistol comes with an original Boyt 1945 holster, canvas belt, and 1918 Mills magazine pouch with two extra magazines.
