6" barrel in .38 LC caliber. This revolver was manufactured in 1901. This is part of the standard Army issue of New Army and Navy revolvers manufactured from 1892 to 1907. Left side of frame has the "R.A.C" (Renaldo Carr) cartouche. "K" sub-inspector mark on cylinder release and bottom of barrel. "R.A.C." stamped on back of cylinder and also on the base of one panel of the two piece walnut grips. Left grip panel stamped 1901 with cartouche, right grip panel has "R.A.C." cartouche in script. Back of the hammer, trigger, and small screws still retain generous amounts of Nitre blue finish. The revolver itself shows high edge wear, muzzle/holster wear, and still retains 85-90% of the original Colt commercial style high polish blue finish. Action is perfect. Strong near mint bore. Revolver has the original lanyard ring. Butt is stamped "U.S. Army Model 1896". Comes with a Rock Island 1909 holster, ammo box with wood block, and original sealed box of Frankfurt Arsenal ammunition dated May 1st, 1913. Needs only a belt to complete this rig. These revolvers were generally well used in the Philippines and this one remains in exceptional all original condition.
