5" barrel in .45 ACP. The frame of this pistol was manufactured by Colt in 1918 and the left side of frame bears the eagle head S14 inspector stamp. The slide was manufactured A.J. Savage Munitions Co. who were awarded a contract in July of 1918 to manufacture 100,000 pistols. The contract was suspended in December of 1918 and delivered an unknown number of slides, which were used as replacements. the right side of slide is stamped "Model of 1911 U.S. Army" which further indicates use as a replacement slide on any pistol used during the first World War as the original slide may have been damaged. Pistol retains all proper 1918 era parts. Barrel ahs the post-1915 PH stamp in line with barrel. Has the second type 1918 rear sight, proper 1918 era checkered slide stop, checkered safety, checkered short spur hammer, smooth mainspring housing with lanyard loop, long smooth trigger, blue finish, and diamond checkered walnut grips. The finish on frame and slide is a pleasing mix of smooth blue-brown patina with flashes of original blue. Stocks are excellent with no cracks. Action is perfect. Very good rifled bore. Has one period magazine. Comes with a U.S. 1918 dated holster, magazine pouch, and web belt. Excellent World War I outfit.
