Cal .44 percussion, barrel length 8". Manufactured in 1863, often referred to the Gettysburg model due to the extensive use in that battle, having been made the same year. This is a US Military inspected revolver, cut for a shoulder stock. Numerous inspector marks on barrel, backstrap, grip strap and cylinder. Razor sharp barrel address. Muzzle rounded from holster wear. 90% navel cylinder scene on rebated cylinder. Brass trigger guard, iron backstrap, one piece smooth walnut grips with visible but not readable cartouche on both panels. All metal is smooth brown patina. Revolver has all matching numbers. Cylinder indexes perfectly, strong rifle bore with typical black powered abrasion. Far better than average mid war, 1860 Colt military inspected Civil War revolver.
