5" barrel, Cal .38 Super. This pistol was manufactured in 1948. Colt resumed production of the Model 1911 .38 Super in 1946. They introduced the new finish that year which featured the high polish blue on the sides of the frame and slide with the new matte finish on the top of slide and base. During this era they were still using various pre war parts until the supply was exhausted. Hence these guns will be found with the mixture of pre war and post war parts. Features: serrated slide stop, checkered safety, checkered non-spur hammer, serrated arched mainspring housing, WWII era Keyes style brown composite grips and a short serrated trigger. Pistol sports standard war era style wind-drift rear sight, fixed front sight. Pistol remains in all original condition, retaining 95% original factory finish. There is light high edge slide and muzzle wear and one spot of minor salt and pepper finger nail size area under the right grip panel. Barely noticeable. Fine bore and action. comes with one original Colt marked magazine. Barrel is often referred to as a "Fat Barrel". Extremely fine condition, pre war-post war Super .38 pistol.
