Octagonal 43” unmarked barrel with dovetailed brass front sight and notched rear sight in .49 caliber smoothbore. Flat lock with rounded tail stamped with a fowl and stamped “WARRANTED” in center with scrolls. Figured full length maple stock, most likely Lehigh County; wooden ramrod. Four piece patch box oval piercing rounded stepped finial, all components except lid engraved with rocker panel engraving. Brass trigger guard, crudely engraved ovoid side plate around single lock screw, nose cap, butt plate and ramrod ferrules. Toe plate engraved with two large stars and rocker panel engraving. Good condition; barrel with dark even brown patina and scattered pitting, especially around breech. Lock has dark patina with scattered pitting. Repair to stock beneath lock, scattered marks from use and some refinished areas. Trigger guard repaired and side plate possibly replaced. Patch box latch button loose.
