Round 8-1/2” barrel marked “US JH P” on left side of breech and dated “1847” on tang. .54 caliber smoothbore with brass front sight. Steel swivel ramrod. Lock plate marked “U.S. H. ASTON”, the tail marked “MIDDTN CONN 1848.” Brass furniture, each component marked with small inspector’s stamp. Walnut stock with inspector’s cartouches, “WN” in oval and “WAJ” in behind side plate. Very good condition with even grey patina on all steel surfaces with some light pitting at breech, brass with mellow patina. Stock excellent with clear cartouches and light marks from use.
