This reed-playing barrel organ by Thibouville-Lamy, Paris features two monkeys dressed in silk Marquis-style costumes. Each has real human hair on top of its paper mache head. Eyes are glass, moving upper and lower lips are painted kidskin, and limbs are painted wood. There is a handle on the back of the organ that, when cranked, causes the monkeys to 'play' their instruments. Music does not play as the instrument needs to be tuned. The clothing on the monkeys is deteriorating and stained. The surface of the rosewood organ shows wear but is in overall nice condition. No key is provided. Circa 1875
Condition: (Good).
