5" barrel, cal. .45 ACP. This pistol was manufactured in 1966. It is rumored that less than 2% of all Pre Series 70 1911 Colt's were finished in factory nickel and while the nickel Pre 70 Supers are scarce, the 45 caliber models are even harder to find. One can travel to dozens of major guns shows and spend years searching the internet trying to find a single example of a Pre Series 70 nickel plated Model 1911 A1 .45 caliber. This pistol seems to have seen little to no use, retaining virtually all the factory applied high polish nickel finish on both sides of frame and slide with the matte satin nickel finish on the top of slide and base of frame. It sports a mint pair of Colt logo brown composite grips that were standard on this issue. Pistol remains in near new condition inside and out with just a few minor surface storage marks. The sides of the slide and frame are almost completely devoid of the usual small scratches found on these guns. Fine bore and action. This pistol is nice enough for an original box.
