Shoulder head seems to be a plaster-type papier-mâché or terra cotta, with inset dark glass eyes, molded upper eyelids and detailed modeling of nose and mouth (some restoration to head, nose rub, lip paint flake), tightly glued on mohair wig with braided bun in back; original carved wood body with shoulder elbow and knee joints (hands refinished), painted lower legs (paint worn and chipping on legs) with glued on red cardboard sandal soles and straps. Newly made purple velvet Tudor-style costume copied from a portrait of Princess Marie von Sachsen in 1546 by Cronach the Younger. Wonderful early doll with two blue ribbons!
