Rolex. Unusual Rolex Domino's Pizza Prototype Steel Air-king Wrist Watch. Case no. 40656XX. Ref. 5500. Silver indexes with "Dominos Pizza" logo. Caliber 1520. Reference 5500 was the first one used in the "Domino's Challenge" This serial (4.0 million) is the earliest serial number known. This example is the only Domino's Logo piece known to have deviated from the standard silver dial. The dial itself is a rarity without the logo, markers index being moved much further out than normal, high-contrast configuration (black-topped sticks on a white dial). May have been intended for a Ref 5505 (35mm) or 36mm Explorer or Everest model. Due to all the above factors, it seems this piece was made as a sample or prototype for Domino's to pick a color scheme. Paperwork confirms these anomalies are original and correct. A rare and unique 1 of 1 piece. This Rolex was returned to Rolex for servicing and sent back with all servicing invoices to confirm authenticity. Piece is still under Factory warranty. Customer copy of service request form gives further proof of original dial being included with piece upon return of servicing. (Mint)
