A desirable A.M. character, mold 231, marked on rear of head: 231 Fany A 2 M. Nice even bisque with finely painted facial detailing, brown glass sleep eyes and no scuffs or scratches to the bisque. This mold number should have a wig but it appears many years ago (crazing to glue and brown paint) that someone turned the bisque head into a “flocked hair” version. A cardboard pate has been glued in place with brown paint and flocking applied to the bisque head. Interesting concept, perhaps the previous collector liked the molded hair version? The head has been off the body and carefully inspected, even looking up the neck socket to the head rim. There appears to be no hairlines or cracks but this doll is being sold as, is where is, how is. On a fully jointed composition body with jointed wrists, normally these dolls are found on straight wristed bodies with short thighs. Overall a very nice doll and possibly after removing the brown paint and glue the buyer could have a real winner!

Item Dimensions: 17-1/2'' T.
