A fictional character created by Florence Kate Upton in the late 1800`s that was duplicated in various toy forms by many toy manufacturers. Most popular in Europe, especially England this fellow always had his trademark red pants, blue coat, wild hair and jet black skin coloring. This particular example is from the earlier part of the 20th century by the Steiff firm, he still retains his original “ear button” with remnants of the cloth tag under the button. Overall in very good condition with typical wear/fading/holes to felt material. Possible blue coat replacement BUT it appears that faded blue coat is under brighter blue coat. A most appealing figure and seldom found as well!
Item Dimensions: 16-1/2'' T.
