This delightful donkey is standing, unjointed, and made from grey mohair plush. He has a black mohair mane; this same material details the tip of his tail. His face comes to life with black shoebutton eyes and traces of black airbrushing highlights. He rides upon two metal axles connected to four metal wheels. He retains his original red felt blanket with embroidery, brown leather saddle, and brown leather reins. All of these items appear to be original; it is most unusual to find early Steiff farm animals with leather accessories in place and in nice condition without cracks or breaks. This very popular and very charming model was made overall in 6 sizes ranging from 22 cm to 60 cm in the 1907-1912 timeframe. Condition: As noted. Fantastic presentation, with light general playwear and losses commensurate with age. Very good condition overall.
