One of the most important 18th century tomahawks, both historically and artistically. There are about four known examples by this maker, all of which are done in this style. These were apparently presented to Important Indian chiefs as a peace offering around 1760. This example has an engraved forged head, decorated with a cannon, moon, sunburst, and fleur-de-lis designs. Bowl is wrapped with brass and fluted. Right side inscribed “A/R” and featuring a sun, chiseled fleur-de-lis, and an engraved silver inlay. Opposite side is dated “1760” and features and engraved cannon, a moon, and an engraved brass inlay. Wooden haft has a brass ring forward the mouth piece. This was discovered in England by one of Glode Requa’s pickers and sent back to him in the United States. This tomahawk is featured on page 23 and page 45 in “Tomahawks-Pipe Axes-Of The American Frontier” by John Baldwin.
