Doll with a carved wood shoulder head, wood upper arms and carved lower arms (not jointed at elbow, thumb missing), wooden torso and cage bottom; nicely carved face with aquiline nose, detailed eyes and pierced ears, rosy cheeks and painted hair might have had a wig over it at one time. Early German peg wood doll with papier-mâché head with molded turban and painted facial features (some crazing, paint wear, chipped toes) and a smaller one with red conical hat (some crazing especially on hat), possibly both made by J.D. Kestner. Interesting early items!
