A charming late 19th century/early 20th century French automata most likely manufactured by Lambert or Roullet & Decamps of a young lady eating her Madeleine(cookie) while reading her book. The mechanism contained within the basket plays a tune while she looks about, lifts her Madeleine and raises her book to read another chapter. Bisque head is fine quality with an open mouth, marked Tete Jumeau 4, with a hairline at center rear from crown to neckline. Appears to be in untouched all original condition with typical fading, dustiness and some distress to the silk outfit which at one point in time was a fine vibrant blue. In working condition and probably could use some lubrication and minor adjustments for more head movement.
Item Dimensions: 15" T.
