Offered is a 3" round cardboard pass to the Challenge Golf Match held June 27th, 1941 for the benefit of the USO that pitted two of the greatest baseball players of all time, Babe Ruth versus Ty Cobb. This was the second in a series of three matches. The first match was held on June 25th in Newton, Massachusetts in which Cobb emerged as the victor. This pass is from the second match held on June 27th in Flushing, Long Island, evening the score to one round a piece with Ruth as victor. The third and final match was held on July 29th in Detroit with Ty Cobb taking the best of three in the series. Cobb was 55 years of age at the time and Ruth was 46. The badge or pass consists of white cardboard with blue and red printing and is dated. It has been signed boldly on the back by Ty Cobb and Babe Ruth in heavy pencil. Autographs measure 3/4" at largest point and remain in strong, bold condition. This pass is accompanied by a letter of authenticity from PSA/DNA. Pass has the original string. There is a 1/4" x 3/4" flake off back. Usual toning and very minor edge wear. An exceptional autographed item signed by two of baseball's greatest iconic players of all time.
