Circa 1830 to 1840. OL: 54”. BL: 38 - 1/4”. Original. TB: Octagon to round. LM: Percussion. PB: 2-piece. S: Walnut. One silver inlay and four brass inlays. This rifle, signed “Leland”, is typical New England walnut half-stock fowler with a wooden fore-rib, a simple two-piece patch box, and a floral silvery inlay on the cheek side with “J.E. Adams”, a probable owner, engraved The “horse-head” finial of the patch box is quite pleasing.
