Circa 1867. OL: 52". BL: 37". TB: Octagonal. LM: Percussion. PB: 4-piece. S: Curly Maple. Incise carving. 36 silver inlays. This attractive rifle appears to be a mid western, half-stock. It has 36 silvery inlays, pierced brass inlays, and a pierced patchbox. On the top of the comb is a small silver inlaid "bowie-knife" with a "horn hilt" along with scrolled incised carving. The silver inlay on top of the barrel is inscribed "Ed Bates June the 5th 1867".
