Circa 1840 to 1850. OL: 54 - 1/2". BL: 40". TB: Octagonal. LM: Percussion. PB: 4-piece. One silver inlay. The walnut-stocked Kentucky rifle is stamped by Nicholas Shennefelt, who worked in Huntingdon County and then moved to Clarion in the later percussion period. This rifle has a pierced and sparsely engraved patchbox, which is the primary enhancement of his work on this piece. There are no repairs and the rifle has an old finish.
