Circa 1830 to 1840. OL: 61". BL: 45 - 1/2". TB: Octagon to round. LM: Percussion. PB: None. S: Curly Maple. Incise carving. This signed Kentucky fowler is a classic example of M. Fordney's simple and later period work. The strong wrist "basket-weave" carving is the curly maple stock's only embellishment and other than a mid fore-arm break the gun is entirely original throughout and is still in its original percussion state.
KENTUCKY RIFLE.
