Circa 1815 to 1825. OL: 57". BL: 43". TB: Octagonal. LM: Flintlock. Original. PB: 2-piece. S: Plain Maple. Incise carving. 11 brass inlays. This rifle, attributed to one of the Angstadt family from the Kutztown area, is still in its original flintlock condition and shows the usage of brass as ornamentation with a simplified type of engraving as well as simple incised carving behind the tang and cheekpiece. The plain maple stock is all original with a dark, old refinish. This rifle displays a flavor of "Pennsylvania Dutch" in its overall impact on the viewer's eye.
KENTUCKY RIFLE.
