Circa 1840 to 1850. OL: 50 - 1/2". BL: 35 - 1/2". TB: Octagonal. LM: Percussion. PB: 4-piece. One silver inlays. This walnut stocked Kentucky rifle is unsigned but has a back-action percussion lock marked "A. Gumpf" and the patchbox is typically the later Lancaster type. The forestock is replaced in front of the rear ramrod ferrule by approximately 22 inches and the toe-plate missing one inch at the buttplate.
