Circa 1840 to 1850. OL: 52". BL: 36 - 3/4". TB: Octagonal. LM: Percussion. PB: 4-piece. S: Walnut. Incise carving. 11 silver inlays. This later half-stock Kentucky rifle signed by "H. Gibbs, Lancaster" is a fine example of his later but attractive workmanship with all German silver engraved moutnings. The walnut stock has been re-finished and the metal has been cleaned. The wrist checkering is of excellent quality as well, and the "running fox" inlay on the cheekpiece is a key feature.
KENTUCKY RIFLE.
