Circa 1835 to 1845. OL: 57 - 1/2". BL: 42 - 1/2". TB: Octagonal. LM: Percussion. Original. PB: 4-piece. S: Curly Maple. Ten silver inlays. This Kentucky rifle is signed "I. B.", possiby for Jacob Baum of the Upper Susquehanna School. It has a curly maple stock with an undisturbed finish, beautifully pieces patchbox, a wear plate, and ten silver inlays which are replaced. There is no restoration with the exception of three silver inlays being correctly replaced. The "mule-ear" percussion lock has always been associated with that region. This is a classic example of a signed rifle from that Upper Susquehanna School.
