Circa 1820 to 1840. OL: 52 - 1/2”. BL: 38”. TB: Octagonal. LM: Percussion. PB: 4-piece. S: Curly Maple. Incise carving. One silver inlay. This Kentucky rifle is signed “J.W.” in script possibly for Jonathan Wetzel and was originally a flintlock, now in percussion. The extremely graceful, fully-pierced patchbox is very similar to John Long rifles as is the incised carving. The curly maple stock has an absolutely untouched original finish.
KENTUCKY RIFLE.
