Circa 1840 to 1860. OL: 54 - 1/2”. BL: 39”. TB: Octagonal. LM: Percussion. Replaced. PB: None. S: Curly Maple. Three brass inlays. This signed “White” may be a very late Peter White or a related family member. The uniqueness of this rifle is the fact that is has curved cheekpieces on both dies of the buttstock with an inlaid floral engraved brass inlay. All of the brass mountings are very finely engraved including the trigger guard and the nose-cap. The very fine curly maple stock with its original surface is still intact with just a 3/8-inch sliver of wood missing from the front of the rear ramrod ferrule to the nose-cap. Otherwise, the stock is sound.
KENTUCKY RIFLE.
