Circa 1830 to 1845. OL: 58 - 1/2". BL: 41 - 3/4". TB: Octagonal. LM: Flintlock. Obvious re-conversion and replaced. PB: 4-piece. S: Walnut. SR: Lengthened. This walnut stocked rifle has a faint script signature which appears to be Casper Fordney. The patchbox engraving is bold and dramatic. The upper portion of the barrel carries Fordney-type engravings; however, the barrel has been lengthened approximately eight inches. The trigger guard shows evidence of being a replacement. The re-converted flintlock is obviously a replacement. This rifle appears to be one of C. Fordney's earlier rifles.
KENTUCKY RIFLE.
