Circa 1780 to 1790. OL: 59". BL: 43 - 1/4". TB: Octagon to round. LM: Flintlock. Replaced. PB: None. S: Curly Maple. SR: Lengthened and patched. Incise carving. This early Kentucky fowler has a very pleasing, primitive-style of incised carving and excellent sculpturing in its buttstock architecture. This is an exceptional piece except for a replaced, modern flintstock and sideplate, patches fore and aft of the lock and a complete fore-stock restoration from the rear ramrod ferrule to the muzzle end of the barrel.
