Circa 1840 to 1850. OL: 50". BL: 34 - 1/4". TB: Octagonal. LM: Percussion. Original. PB: Oval. S: Curly Maple. Four brass inlays. This curly maple half-stock Kentucky rifle is signed "B E" in script and has a back-action percussion lock marked "Whitmore Wolfe Duff Pittsbrugh, Pa.". There are four brass inlays, a wear plate. and an oval patchbox all very nicely engraved. The cheekpiece and rear two inlays are unique, one having a "weeping heart" as a piercing. The toe-plate, a small piece of wood and the very lower tip of the buttplate is currently missing. The barrel and the lock have light pitting and have been cleaned bright.
