OL: 56". BL: 40 - 1/4". TB: Octagonal. LM: Flintlock. PB: 4-piece. Two copper inlays. This Kentucky is signed "Dickert and Gill". Dickert's son-in-law was James Gill and they were in business a short time together as James Gill died in 1796. Originally this barrel was approximately 42 to 43 inches long but was shortened when it was converted to percussion. The upper 20 inches of forestock has been replaced, along with a 9 - 1/2-inch long piece in front of the lock. The "Dickert and Gill" rifles are not common and are quite desirable, especially with the nicer patchbox as this has.
