Circa 1830 to 1840. OL: 51 - 1/2". BL: 38 - 1/2". TB: Octagonal. LM: Percussion. Replaced. PB: None. S: Curly Maple. This signed "J. Sheetz" rifle is a later example of his work. The engraving on the patchbox, sideplate, and toe-plate, are well done. The maple stock shows evidence of it and the barrel being shortened one full inch, an indication that the rifle may have been flintlock originally, now with a replacement Golcher lock.
