Circa 1830 to 1840. OL: 54 - 1/2". BL: 40". TB: Octagonal. LM: Flintlock. Original. PB: 4-piece. Seven silver inlays. This Kentucky rifle signed "S.S." is a plain but nice, untouched example of Samuel St. Clair's work who was active in the Upper Susquehanna School. Although the stock is plain maple, it has an untouched, dry surface and all of its parts are still intact. The flintlock appears to be original with the possible exception of a replaced, modern hammer. The brass patchbox is typical of the area.
KENTUCKY RIFLE.
