Circa 1830 to 1840. OL: 57 - 1/4". BL: 42 - 1/4". TB: Octagonal. LM: Flintlock. PB: 4-piece. S: Curly Maple. Incise carving. Two silver inlays. This Kentucky is another example of an "in-period" re-stock using earlier brass hardware including the patchbox which is from a "J. Welshans" rifle, as is the trigger guard. The carving behind the cheekpiece is typical of the Upper Susquehanna School, as is the shaped barrel tang. The barrel has been lengthened approximately 11 inches, as has the forestock. Both the flintlock and the sideplate are modern replacements.
KENTUCKY RIFLE.
