Both octagonal barrels signed "PK" in script on top flats, breeches each have a brass and a silver inlaid band, one rifled, the other smoothbore. Barrels are fastened together using slotted dovetails between the two barrels, longer than usual two-screw engraved tang. Ramrod mounted on each side with engraved brass rib attached to each rearmost ferrule and decorated with a drum and foliage scrolls. Flintlock action on right side, lockplate scrolls, each side of barrels fitted with pan and frizzen mechanism, one for each barrel. Left side of stock, opposite the lockplate, fitted with engraved steel sideplate and pierced swivel release mechanism which allows barrels to be turned. Four-piece pierced brass patchbox of the style used on many other Kunz rifles and engraved with detailed shaded scrolls. Toeplate with finial matching that of the patchbox also engraved en suite, round brass patchbox lid release. Faceted trigger guard. Silver rectangle inlaid between toeplate and rear tang of trigger guard, engraved silver trout inlaid on each side of wrist, small silver oval wrist escutcheon engraved with a detailed human face, reminiscent of the Lehigh "Indian", and left side of butt inlaid with engraved silver inlay of a lioness below an engraved eight-pointed Moravian star. Figured maple stock of later Lehigh form, unique rounded Germanic style cheekpiece. Good condition, barrels retain a spotted brown patina with marks and areas of light buildup on surface, one of the bone-tipped wooden ramrods has been replaced and brass rib extensions around fronts of locks have been replaced, brass ribs have applied darker finish. Swivel mechanism tight and functional. Cock replaced and locks on barrels professionally reconverted to flintlock configuration. Brass and silver have dark areas of added finish or patina. Stock very good, as refinished with scattered light marks and repaired crack in toe. Rare and unique configuration by a famous gunsmith.
