Rifled octagonal barrel marked "J. FORDNEY/LANCASTER, P.A." on top flat. Flat flintlock lockplate with indistinct markings, rounded tail and double set triggers. Familiar plain brass furniture, including typical Lancaster County four piece pierced and engraved patchbox. Small octagonal silver vacant wrist escutcheon. Full length plain maple stock with faux striping, of familiar Lancaster form with diamond section checkered wrist and wooden ramrod. Good condition. Barrel retains a brown patina with some areas of light pitting and some heavier pitting around breech. Front sight missing and mother of pearl has been placed in notch. Lock retains a brown patina with scattered areas of pitting, has been professionally reconverted to flintlock configuration. Brass retains a tarnished patina. Stock good as refinished, with some areas of striping worn off. A couple minor splinters of wood missing along left side of forend, against barrel and one piece above front of sideplate. Checkering shows some wear and there is a chip at toe.
CORRECTION: The rifle that is dated 1914 is missing it’s rear sight.
