Octagonal rifled barrel signed "P. Kuntz" on top flat and two decorated bands surround both front and rear sights. Flintlock mechanism with lockplate stamped "KONIGMACHER/& Co./WARRANTED," roller frizzen and sprigs of engraving on cock and tail. Four piece pierced and finely engraved patchbox, one of the typical Kuntz pattern patchboxes, engraved with checkered triangles, scrolls and broken line borders and scrolls shaded. Brass Lehigh County trigger guard with brass lug forward bow. Brass wearplate with punch-dot engraved border and hemp leaves on a stippled ground, toeplate with rectangular horn patchbox release and engraved with a banner of shaded diamonds. Flat sheet brass Lehigh sideplate terminating in an arrowhead at the rear. Silver Moravian eight-pointed star above cheekpiece and vacant diamond wrist escutcheon, small silver diamonds inlaid on each side of forend. Full length figured maple stock of familiar Lehigh County, Pennsylvania form, wooden ramrod. Carved behind cheekpiece with incised "C" scrolls surrounded by repeating incised "C's", front of lock and sideplate also engraved with series of repeating carved "C's". Double line border on each side of barrel tang and above lock and sideplate, incised borders carved above and below cheekpiece. Excellent condition; barrel retains traces of brown finish and remaining areas retain an even brown patina with excellent signature. Lock retains an even brown patina and is in original flintlock configuration. Brass shows almost no wear and has been polished, now mellowing. Stock excellent, as refinished with a few minor age cracks under lock and scattered light marks.
