This unique device is the early answer to the modern Take-A-Number ticket dispensers we see today. The cabinet houses a range of number cards. One number at a time may be displayed on the upper clip to show which number is being serviced. Once that number is through it may be dropped into a slot at the top of the cabinet and deposited into the front windowed column. There is a faded white tag behind the number clip that reads "WM H. Champion... Spring, Massachusetts". The wood cabinet is chipped at the base and shows general wear throughout.
