Extremely serviceable heavy weight and sturdy flat capped pommel that has a slight over hang in the posterior above the reinforced doorknob capstan and cushion platform. Backstrap is broad and heavy, as is the knuckle bow. The double languettes are also reflected as extensions into the silver wire-wrapped grip. The 1-1/2" wide, slightly curved partially blued blade has a single fuller and is ornamented to the point of percussion with gold scrolls and large “U S of A”. Copy of "American Silver-Hilted Revolutionary and Early Federal Swords by Daniel Hartzler", featuring this sword will be included. Sword is featured on page 644, figure 584. Very good condition; blade retains perhaps 80% bright blue and gilt decoration, with remainder polished bright but with pitting, heavy in some areas. Hilt and grip excellent with scattered areas of dark patina.
