Wolfe’s eagle pommel is the only hand decoration on this hilt. The ferrules are very small. The thin sheet-silver knuckle bow, showing hammer marks on inside, narrows as it flows into the counterguard and reaches into long disk quillon. It is hallmarked “FH” over “W” in Roman capitals on the superior side of the crossguard, between the knuckle bow and walnut grip. A silver band makes four loops as it spirals upward on the grip. The curved blade has a shallow center fuller and engraved gilt-decorated designs on each side, including military motifs. Copy of "American Silver-Hilted Revolutionary and Early Federal Swords by Daniel Hartzler", featuring this sword will be included. Sword is featured on page 60, figure 46. Very good condition, blade retains a spotted grey patina with some areas of heavy dark patina, engraved designs still have much of gilt finish in lines, edge has scattered nicks. Hilt very good with some minor marks and quillon appears to be a period replacement. Grip very good with some hairline horizontal cracks from age.
