Tapered round barrel stamped at breech with an "8", "O" and "15". Flat steel lockplate with rounded tail, brass pan, and reinforced cock. Standard French Model 1777 steel furniture. Trumpeted barrel band at end of muzzle fitted with brass sight, rectangular bayonet lug mounted on bottom of barrel and steel trumpeted ramrod. Sideplate stamped with "M" and "C". Complete with original white buff leather sling. Full length walnut stock with cut-out on left side for cheek. Excellent condition; all steel components cleaned bright. No markings on lockplate. Some areas turning to light brown and barrel appears to have a repair between the second and third barrel bands that has been filed. Stock is good with one brass tack behind rear trigger guard tang and scattered worm holes on both sides of butt. Some chipping around lock and a few large gouges forward of lockplate on forend.
