Octagonal Damascus steel smoothbore barrel with flared muzzle and some relief chiseled designs on top flat. Integral rear notch sight and large brass front sight. Rounded flintlock lockplate marked at tail with segmented heart with letters "VEIC" for Venerable Est India Company, also dated "1804", marked "REA" in center, for maker. Lock has a modified cock screw and is missing the top jaw and top jaw screw. Barrel is secured by 4 engraved sheet brass capucines and features a large sheet brass triggergaurd with hand forged steel trigger. Stock is of familiar form and decorated with inlaid ebony, brass wire, and mother of pearl, in a series of repeating designs. Very good condition, barrel and lock show some wear and have been cleaned, now retain a grey patina with some darker areas. Brass retains a mellow patina. Stock excellent, missing only a couple very small inlays. Turned steel ramrod is excellent.
