Round smoothbore steel barrel with bayonet stud mounted on top, near muzzle. Rounded 1770's French flintlock with plate marked with Charleville markings and surcharged "US" at tail. Steel furniture. Walnut stock. As found condition; barrel, lock and furniture retain a pitted grey patina, surcharge on lock is clear and original. Probably a Revolutionary War American assembled or surcharged musket. Stock is broken completely around lock, some chips missing and being secured together by an old rope repair. Ramrod and sideplate are missing. This musket has seen a lot of use and has significant saddle wear on stock.
