This massive chest was taken from the Assay Office in Cripple Creek, Colorado. It is solid oak with a dark stain. It features recessed panels on the sides and crown molding under the top. It holds 40 numbered drawers with solid oak fronts and a lighter wood for the sides and bottoms, most likely poplar. The interior of each drawer is approximately 22" x 23". The top is bowed in with some separation in the boards. Circa 1890s.
