Circa 1850's. Spear point blade, relief ground with forged-in serrations on upper edge, ricasso stamped "HENRY C. BOOTH & CO., NORFOLK WORKS, SHEFFIELD". Blade etched “The Hunter’s Knife” amidst scrollwork, center panel with hunting scene of spear-wielding Indian on horse pursuing steers. Two piece mother of pearl handles, very rare horse-alligator guard and coffin shaped horse alligator pommel of nickel silver which appear to be silver plated. Escutcheon scratched “TOR”. Leather sheath a modern replacement. Blade with a few scattered pits and tiny nicks in edge, handle is unblemished.

This very large and fine knife was undoubtedly made for exhibition purposes. According to Tweedale’s Directory of Sheffield Cutlery Manufacturers 1740-2013, Booth established himself as a cutlery manufacturer in approximately 1851.
