Surgical instrument maker Alexandre Henri Dufilho’s shop was located in New Orleans, near the corner of Custom House and Royal streets in the French Quarter. Considered the premier maker of Bowies and push daggers in the Crescent City, Dufilho worked there from 1856 to 1867. This absolutely massive Bowie knife was carried by Dr. Lunsford P. Yandell in the Confederate Army, and later by his son in the Spanish-American War.
